BLACKBURN / ESTABLISHED 2008

Independent
by design.

InControl Automation was established in Blackburn in 2008. The principle remains simple: combine multiple engineering disciplines to deliver a more complete, better thought-out result.

THE BUSINESS

Ideas first. Engineering always.

InControl Automation is an independent engineering business, run by Rick Moore from Blackburn since 2008. The work spans homes, commercial premises and specialist projects — and some of the most rewarding is assistive technology, where a practical solution can transform someone’s everyday life.

Rather than treating each trade as an isolated job, we bring electrical installation, mechanical services, smart-home controls, audiovisual design and specialist fabrication together, so the systems in a building are designed to work with one another from the start.

What matters to us

Good engineering shows in how well a room works — and in the workmanship you will never see. Clear serviceability, sensible system design and support after handover matter just as much as a striking finished result.

MADE FOR STAGE UK LTD / WE WILL ROCK YOU

A privilege to be part of it.

Rick served as Technical Director for Made for Stage UK Ltd’s production of We Will Rock You — designing and building the illuminated throne, the smoking firepit and the brain-frying helmets, and contributing to the stage lighting alongside the creative team.

It was a real privilege to work with so many talented performers. Seeing something built in the workshop become part of their performance, night after night, is one of the proudest pieces of work in InControl’s history.

THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE BUSINESS

Not limited to one kind of installation.

Electronics, electrical installation, plumbing, heating and refrigeration knowledge, combined with practical control-system engineering. That range matters most when a project falls between the conventional trades.

BROAD TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Understand where the systems meet.

A lighting fault might begin with a power supply, wiring, a control command or a network problem. A mechanical automation problem may also involve electronics and how the client operates the equipment. Looking across those boundaries helps identify the actual cause instead of simply exchanging components.

ACCESSIBILITY-LED WORK

Work with the people who understand the client.

InControl has experience working alongside Court of Protection-appointed deputies and taking occupational therapists’ input into account where appropriate. The priority is practical independence in a comfortable home, not technology that makes a room feel clinical.

COMMERCIAL & SPECIALIST PREMISES

Experience beyond the living room.

Over the years the work has included manufacturing clients and specialist environments — a wallpaper manufacturer, a sweet factory and an aquarium among them — alongside residential cinemas, connected homes, access automation, theatre fabrication and, more recently, development work on the Mahulu range of leisure craft.

PRACTICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Engineering knowledge backed by training.

Rick holds NVQ Level 3 qualifications in Electronic Engineering and in Plumbing & Heating, alongside the business’s Gas Safe registration and REFCOM/F-Gas credentials. Where notifiable electrical work needs certifying, we bring in an appropriately registered electrician and check the work ourselves.
