THE THINKING BEHIND THE INSTALLATION

Engineering
the details.

Begin with the client’s abilities and priorities

A useful system reflects what the individual wants to do, how they prefer to do it and what support is already in place. This can mean simplifying a difficult sequence, adapting an interface or reducing the number of actions required for a routine activity. Equipment is a means to an end, not the starting point.

Work with the people around the client

We have experience working with Court of Protection-appointed deputies and can incorporate the input of occupational therapists and other appropriate professionals. Their understanding of the client’s practical needs can be essential when selecting controls or planning an adaptation.

Preserve the feeling of home

An adapted property should still feel like someone’s home. Wherever possible we aim for discreet equipment, appropriate finishes and controls that are intuitive to the client and the people assisting them. Accessibility, reliability, dignity and appearance need to be considered together, with support arrangements thought through from the beginning.
