No more dragging heavy curtains.
This is a large luxury home with full-length, very heavy curtains. The client simply wanted the convenience of not having to haul them across the room by hand.
The track has to be designed into the opening.
Motorised curtain tracks need to be hidden, or at least neat. Their power and control have to be planned at the window, and the curtains still have to hang properly when they're open. Automation doesn't fix a badly measured track.
Motorised tracks on Control4.
We installed motorised curtain tracks and integrated them with Control4. The client asked for one simple control, so that's what they have: a toggle button on the wall scene controller and in the app. Press it once to close the curtains, and press the same button again to open them.
Simple by choice, not by limitation.
The system could do much more. The curtains could be part of a lighting scene, follow dusk and dawn timers that adjust themselves through the year, or close automatically as part of a TV or film scene. Any or all of those could be added later.
In this case the client wanted one button, and the best installation is the one that matches how people actually live. For motorised curtains and blinds we use a mix of Lutron and Somfy products, depending on what suits the window and the client.
One button. Every time.
Heavy curtains that glide open and closed effortlessly, from the wall or from a phone.
